Joseph Paris says that it is unfair for children to go through life without hair. Why?

  • Hair loss for children can be traumatizing.
  • Children think that they are sick.
  • Other kids can make fun of their hair loss.

One of Joseph Paris’ clients, a child who was very pleased with the way his hair looked, told Joseph Paris that he doesn’t care if his hair ever grows back. There is a special way of dealing with the trauma of hair loss in children. Joseph Paris understands this and relates well to children experiencing medically-related hair loss because he experienced Alopecia Areata twice in his life as a teenager.

Joseph Paris Naturally’s high quality MHP Hair Systems are for children as well as adults. A renowned wig designer for more than 40 years, he has been seeing not only adults but children throughout his distinguished career. Joseph Paris and his staff bring the same warmth and sensitivity to children as they do to adults.

For children undergoing chemotherapy, hair loss occurs because some anticancer drugs are made to kill fast-growing cancer cells. However, certain normal cells, such as hair cells, are also fast-growing, and chemotherapy affects these cells as well.

Hair loss in children may also result from other medical conditions. Children may experience hair loss due to Tinea Capitis, or ringworm of the scalp. Trauma to the hair shaft may be caused by traction from consistently worn tight braids or ponytails.

Primarily, the children seen by Joseph Paris have various forms of Alopecia, a condition that begins with the sudden appearance of hair loss patches. The children range in age from 18 months to early teens.

“When children say they want a wig, that’s the time parents should buy them a wig,“ Joseph Paris advises.
